Biographical Sketch of Reverend Shaun Ellison Jones, Pastor Elect

The Reverend Shaun Ellison Jones is a native of Saint Louis, Missouri. He was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at the age of 17; and ordained at the age of 23 at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church-Christian Complex (Saint Louis, MO). He is the son of Reverend Dr. Sammie Earl and Sandra Elaine Jones and has one living brother, Michael Lomax. He is the new Pastor of the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ossining, New York.



The Reverend Shaun Ellison Jones is a native of Saint Louis, Missouri. He was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at the age of 17; and ordained at the age of 23 at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church-Christian Complex (Saint Louis, MO). He is the son of Reverend Dr. Sammie Earl and Sandra Elaine Jones and has one living brother, Michael Lomax. He is the new Pastor of the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ossining, New York.

Reverend Jones graduated from the Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School (2000). He attended Virginia Union University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Religious Studies & Philosophy in 2004. While at Virginia Union, he was blessed with many worthwhile accomplishments. He was inducted into the Community of Scholars, served as Vice-President of the Student Government Association, recorded an album as a member of the Virginia Union University Concert Choir and was heavily involved in campus ministry.

In 2007 Reverend Jones received his Master of Divinity from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.  In addition to Reverend Jones' work in the church he is actively engaged in social and civic groups. He’s a member of Pastor Council for the Central Hudson Baptist Association, and chair of its Social Justice Committee. He is a former Community Organizer for Metropolitian Congregations United, an affiliate of the Gamaliel National Network.  Reverend Jones served on several boards, Cultural Leadership, Interfaith Council of Saint Louis, and the Regional Business Council of Greater Saint Louis's Ferguson Reinvestment Committee. Reverend Jones is a faculty member for the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and Central Theological Seminary’s Foundation’s Program; a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Prior to being the Pastor-Elect of “The Star”, Reverend Jones served as the Assistant Pastor of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church (Saint Louis, MO), Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries for the Baptist General Convention of Virginia, Minister of Children and Youth for the Mount Hope Baptist Church (Fredericksburg, VA) and Saint Mark Baptist Church (Maiden, VA) and an associate minister for the Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church (Richmond, VA).
