Reverend Shaun Ellison Jones, M.DIV

 
The Reverend Shaun Ellison Jones has been described as a young, powerful and prophetic voice with a heart for social justice and bridging generations. He is a pastor, community organizer and gifted workshop facilitator with 20 years of ministry experience. He has been blessed to serve in pastoral ministry, on denomination staff and as a social justice advocate as a community organizer. Reverend Jones is a native of Saint Louis, Missouri. He was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at the age of 17; and ordained at the age of 23. He is the son of Reverend Dr. Sammie Earl and Sandra Elaine Jones and has one living brother, Michael Lomax
 
Reverend Jones graduated from the Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School in 2000. He attended Virginia Union University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Religious Studies & Philosophy in 2004. While at Virginia Union, he was blessed with many worthwhile accomplishments. He was inducted into the Community of Scholars, served as Vice-President of the Student Government Association, recorded an album as a member of the Virginia Union University Concert Choir and was heavily involved in campus ministry. In 2007 Reverend Jones received his Master of Divinity from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.
 
Reverend Jones’ is community minded and uses his prophetic voice to seek justice, equality and equity for everyone. He is Co-Chair for My Brother’s Keeper Ossining, a Clergy leader for Community Voices Heard, and a board member of the Interfaith Council for Action housing Network. Pastor Jones is also heavily involved in denominational work. He currently serves as the Director of the iR.O.C.K. (I Rely on Christ the King) the Young Adult division of the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, Vice President of the Congress of Christian Education for the Central Hudson Baptist District Association, the Asst Treasurer of the Empire Missionary Baptist Congress of Christian Education. He is also proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.   He previously served as a board member of the African American Advisory Council for Westchester County NY the 4th Vice Moderator of the Philadelphia Baptist District Association, Secretary of the Metropolitan Clergy Coalition of Saint Louis and Vicinity. In 2014 he was appointed to Regional Business Council of Greater Saint Louis’s Ferguson Reinvestment Committee because of his organizing work and activism in Ferguson after the killing of Michael Brown.
 
In 2016 Reverend Shaun Jones became the Pastor of the Historic Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ossining, New York. Since his arrival the Church has seen growth in membership and ministry. It has increased it use of technology as a means of ministry and evangelism. Raise over $100,000 Capital Campaign to renovate the church. Pastor Jones along with Star has made a has already made significant impact in the community through it’s Be the Church Day, Back to School Community Bash, and partnering with the Briarcliff/Ossining Ministerial Alliance to be an overflow Homeless Shelter and becoming an institutional member of Community Voices Heard.   Prior to being the pastor of Star. Reverend Jones served as the Assistant Pastor of the Mount Zion Baptist Church-Christian Complex (Saint Louis, MO), community organizer for Metropolitan Congregations United the Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries for the Baptist General Convention of Virginia, Minister of Children and Youth for the Mount Hope Baptist Church (Fredericksburg, VA) and Saint Mark Baptist Church (Maiden, VA).
